SO WHAT is an 18 piece Jazz ensemble of mostly MYJO graduates. It was formed at the end of 1999 for the BBC National Big Band Competition where band leader Mike Beaumont won the outstanding arranger award for 'Tiger Rag'.

Influences include Gerry Mulligan's Concert Orchestra and Gill Evans, but the band always seeks to create its own jazz blend whilst giving maximum exposure to its many fine soloists.
