HERBERT SPLIFFINGTON ALLSTARS
Herbert Spliffington Allstars at Llangollen

Herbert Spliffington Allstars are a 7 piece band playing Reggae, Ska and Jazz, all with a strong Jamaican vibe supplied by Satch Dixon (below left with Andy Hamilton) on vocals and percussion. Satch has worked with many of the great names in Jamaican music including Don Drummond, Count Ossie, Sonny Bradshaw and Bob Marley. Band Leader Pete Beresford (keys) has worked with Rico Rodriguez, S.E. Rogie and other African/Caribbean artists. A cracking line-up also features Simon King (guitar), Jamie Brownfield (trumpet), Geraint Davies (trombone), Kevin Willoughby (bass guitar - has worked with Ismael Lo, Sekou Keita, Baaba Maal) and Fuzz Townsend (drums). Now with Pama International as well as Spliffington, Fuzz made his name with Pop Will Eat Itself and Bently Rhythm Ace.

At the Corks Club we first heard about Satch Dixon when Andy Hamilton booked Pete Beresford to play piano with the Blue Notes one night and Pete brought Satch along with him. Satch however had heard of Andy Hamilton long before any of us, as he'd seen the Andy play his Saxophone in Jamaica before Andy came over to Brummagem.
