David Lloyd Henry (AKA Gabby) is a Jamaican Guitarist with a unique style who’s worked with some of the big names of popular music, including Jimmy Cliff, Rita Marley, Wyclef Jean, and the Isley Brothers.
The core band will feature Wayne Mathews bass, Wayne Scott and Carl Richard on drums, Paul Riley keys and Donna Sterling on vocals. You can always expect an array of great guests when Gabby brings his posse to the Corks and he already has three other vocalists, Jacob, Rebecca, Danieal all lined up!
The video below is from a previous vist to Corks and it features Peter Lewis, a young sax player who was presented with a saxophone by his church at an Andy Hamilton gig at the Corks just a few years ago.
The band features 3 Horns, bass guitar, drums, rhythm guitar, keyboards plus a male and a female vocalist. Musicians are from Birmingham and Black Country and four play in the Out of the Blue big band. the repertoire is classic Atlantic, Stax and other soul numbers.
We've been advised to clear the dance floor area!
Proceeds will go to Interface Uganda... ..this is a plastic reconstructive surgery charity which plays an important role in getting people back into work and into society in Uganda. For more information visit their website:
We’ve just had this message back from Jo James of The Soul Providers about how much money we raised for Interface Uganda
“Hi Richard
£400....which is brilliant...adding up all the door money, the raffle, donations, and calculating for gift aid.
Thanks for your support....I know it wasn't the usual type of music but all in all the evening seemed to go successfully.
Jo”
I think we can all agree that it was a successful and well attended evening and hopefully it did much to help raise the profile of Interface Uganda
