Trevor Lines Band
The Late Bill Evans project
☆ 13th December ☆
Trevor Lines is one of the top regional
Double Bass players. He’s played for us many times both with the Blue
Notes and with many of the guest acts that have graced the Corks Club
stage.
Trevor Lines always uses his many contacts in the
Conservatoire and the Jazz World to bring quality musicians to the
Silvershine Club. Combining youth and experience to create a quartet
with a difference, the line up will be:
- Liam Halloran vibes,
- Mal Gibbons guitar
- Lydia Glanville drums
- Trevor Lines bass.
and they’ll be playing music from the later stages of the great Bill Evans’career.
Pianist and composer, Bill Evans was a huge influence on Jazz in
general, and the pianist on Miles Davis' classic album, Kind of Blue.
Trevor Lines and his band will be playing music from the intense final phase leading up to his death in 1980.

• Shaine Dorsey Band • 10th Jan •
with Malcolm Gibbons (guitar)
At the
Silvershine Jazz Club we start the New Year with the wonderful
voice of singer, Shaine Dorsey, who will be performing with her wonderful backing band. Daughter of popular West Midlands based Jazz
& Big Band Swing Singer, the late Warren Dorsey, Shaine was always
a very popular performer when she joined in on Andy Hamilton's
afternoon gigs at the Drum and the Symphony Hall (above).
Her band will feature Shaine’s regular piano player Andy Peate as well as the excellent Malcolm Gibbons on guitar.
Gone Too Soon - James Renford
At the Silvershine Jazz Club we were deeply saddened and more than a little surprised to hear of the death of saxophonist James Renford on January 9th. Seen here playing with Fred Webb and the Blue Notes on one of Andy Hamilton’s Jam Night's, James also played the club in his own right, using the occasion to showcase a lot of local talent.
As well as being a prodigiously talented musician James was one of the good guys. Tributes have been rolling in from across the music industry, incuding Steel Pulse, Roy Hemmings and the Edwin Starr website.
Blue Notes Jam Night
☆ 17th Jan ☆
It’s Vic and the boys this coming Thursday. It will be a Jam Night, so bring you’re instrument if you’ve got one. I’ll announce the full line-up when I get it...
...but with Vic singing better than ever, you can be sure of some...
...sweet, sweet Jazz music!
♬ Bon Accord ♬
24th Jan
Bon Accord is a truly wonderful Gypsy Jazz
outfit, that plays toe-tappingly sweet music inspired by the music of
Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli’s Quintet of the Hot Club of
France.
The difference is that whilst most Gypsy Jazz
bands today consist entirely of stringed instruments. Django, however,
also recorded with accordionist Gus Viseur and clarinettist Hubert
Rostaing. Bon Accord follows this lead with a line-up of accordion,
clarinet, guitar and double bass, playing both well-known and more
contemporary Gypsy Jazz numbers plus French and Latin pieces.
Come, listen and let the
music warm the cockles of your heart!
