Paradigm Jaunt ♦ Thursday 23rd February ♦
Originally conceived some years ago by sax player and founder member, Annil Chandra, Paradigm Jaunt has evolved over the years with line ups made up from budding musicians attending jam sessions run by Andy Hamilton and the Blue Notes in Bearwood and the Drum Aston (all of the Blue Notes always had and have passed on the love and passion for playing and performing and encouraging young and old to travel the musical journey with an open heart and sharing with others that you may encounter).
Their latest line up is a mix of generations and backgrounds , all with a passion and love of playing, on a journey to learn as we listen to those musicians from whatever genre it may be.
Their set is made up of some of those influences and rhythms, as they aim to enjoy playing and take the audience with them on their journey.
Paradigm Jaunt are:
Alex Williamson on drums
Leigh Mcdonough Bass Gutair
Daniel Stockdale Trumpet/Valve Trombone/Flugel Horn
Jacob Joy Guitar
Annil Chandra Saxes
Dave Saunders Piano/Keyboard (not on this set but a staple player of the band who has influenced us all with his musical knowledge and wisdom)
Enjoy the Music & feel the Rhythm!

Young sax maestro Archie Tulk headlines this week’s Blue Notes gig. From the Notebenders and Silvershine Jam Nights Archie has gone on to join Soweto Kinch at his Flyover Show, study Jazz in London and more. As it’s a Jam Night I’m sure he’ll be joined by a few old friends.
Bring your instrument if you'd like to join in. If not, just come along and listen to some sweet, sweet music.
Dr Steve’s Jazz Surgery Thursday 9th February
For outing № 2 of 2023, Dr Steve's Jazz Surgery will be focused on showcasing the duo album, LOOK FOR WORK, recorded in 2021: a piano and saxophone album featuring Tromans alongside the phenomenal saxophony of Professor James Tartaglia.

He always brings a fabulous band and this time is no exception. The Bryan Corbett Quartet are:

Al Gurr - keys
Tom Hill - bass
Mitch Perrins - Drums
Definitely a gig not to be missed!

Dr Steve's Jazz Surgery RAISING THE JAZZ STANDARD ♦ Thursday 12th January ♦
“Raise it High, Raise it With Pride!”
The first Dr Steve's Jazz Surgery of 2023 explores the notion of "standard" thru a musical philosophical investigation of popular jazz standards and the endless potential they offer for 21st century jazz musicians.
Q. What is a jazz standard? Who decides? And how can contemporary musicians contribute to our understandings of the "canon" of jazz standards?
Joining Dr Steve on this quest of musical philosophical discovery will be his good friends and longstanding musical collaborators, Mike Green double bass and Miles Levin drums (with the man himself on piano and philosophical interludes).
