Sorry if this page is a bit of a download, but it's got lots of
pictures of lots of the guests who've turned up to play with Andy
Hamilton and the Blue Notes, often on spec.
Brian
Cumming
One of the joys of a Jazz club
is that you never know who's going to turn up and play with the
band. Early last year Brian
Cumming (right), a Sax player from Nashville, turned up on spec
to play a few numbers with Andy Hamilton and the Blue Notes. What
followed was sensational. Brian, who plays Jazz, Country and a whole
lot else besides, was over here promoting himself and has linked
up with Island
Pool Music to record his own music. Brian's page on the Island
Pool site has plenty of pictures of Brian with our musicians.
Tracy
Astwood
Also round that time a young singer from
Bermuda called Tracy Astwood (right with Andy Hamilton) turned up
a couple of times and sang "Every Time we Say Goodbye"
(Where have you been Tracy - we haven't heard from you in a while).
Helen McDonald
On the 2nd of April Ray Butchers Quartet stood in for Andy Hamilton
and the Blue Notes. That same night the wonderful Helen McDonald
turned up and sang. Pictured right this is the first time (hopefully
the first of many) she's sung down the new venue.
Dionne Deveraux
Dionne
Deveraux (right) is one of the latest new singers to turn up at
Corks and showcase her talents alongside Andy Hamilton and the Blue
Notes. Dionne is a Jazz and R&B singer starting out on a professional
career and off the back of her brief performance at Corks was immediately
offered her own gig at the Drum.

singing "That
Old Devil Called Love"
Ann
Arscott and more
Ann is a former lead singer of the Blue Notes
currently carving out her own carreer. This photo, taken in low
light, was from the same gig, last January, as the Tracy Astwood
photo.
Anyone is likely to turn up on these Jam
Nights, but other musicians likely to feature include Vince
Seager, Maria
Patrick, and, of course, Tony
Beet who played a Ska number last time around. On Thursday we
have the first Jam Session of the new year. The Session is led by
Andy Hamilton and the Blue Notes and is the perfect opportunity
for local musicians to showcase their talent at Corks Club.
I'm looking for a name for the young Sax
player with Ray Butcher on the right. He played with Ray on one
of Ray's gigs and he was dead good, so if you know his name hit
the contact button and let us know.
